Membership

 

Ordeal Sash The Order of the Arrow has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. Brotherhood Sash This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Vigil Sash Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming. Each winter & spring our lodge sends out election teams to every troop in the Cascade Pacific Council where all of the registered Boy Scouts can vote on their candidates for Ordeal induction. Unit Election Statistics

 

Every year Chapters are charged with performing elections with units in their chapter to get as many new members as possible. For current Unit election Statistics read this google doc.

Youth Eligibility

 

To become a member, a youth must be a registered Boy Scout or Varsity Scout and hold the first class rank. He must have experienced 15 days and nights of Boy Scout camping during the two-year period prior to election. The 15 days and nights must include one, but no more than one, long-term camp consisting of six consecutive days and five nights of resident camping, approved and under the auspices and standards of the BSA. The balance of the camping must be overnight, weekend, or other short-term camps. Following approval by the Scoutmaster or Varsity team Coach, Scouts are elected to seek membership in the Order by their fellow unit members.

Adult Eligibility

 

Chpater Advisor Patch Each year, upon holding a troop or team election for youth candidates that results in at least one youth candidate being elected, the unit committee may recommend one adult to the lodge adult selection committee, with the approval of the Scout Executive, will be candidates for induction, providing the following conditions are fulfilled: Nominees must be registered with Cascade Pacific Council. Adult selection is based on their ability to perform the necessary functions to help Lodge Advisor Patch the Order fulfill its purpose, and not for recognition of service, including current or prior achievement and position. The individual will be an asset to the Order because of demonstrated abilities that fulfill the purpose of the Order. The camping requirements set forth for youth members must be fulfilled. The adult leader's membership will provide a positive role model for the growth and development of the youth members of the lodge. Adult nominations must be made at the same time as your Troop or Team elections.
